On the eve of decennial anniversary of the country independence a million ton of cargo is transported on a ferry service between Ukraine and Georgia

Decision of development of a regular ferry service between two countries called to become a sea tract The Great Silk Road was accepted in the middle of 90th of the last century by the Presidents of Ukraine and Georgia. The practical work on development of a ferry service was charged to Shipping Company “Ukrferry”. Within first three years the company bore heavy losses because of small turnover.

The Great Silk Road was Prolonged up to the Marble Sea

Shipping Company “Ukrferry” by the voyage of m/v "Geroi Shipki" on May 29th, 2001 opened a new regular ferry line Illychevsk - Derince (Turkey) - Illychevsk.
